“Nature is an incomparable guide, if you know how to follow her”

Carl Gustav Jung, The Earth Has A Soul: C.G. Jung on Nature, Technology & Modern Life, edited by Meredith Sabini.

Over my lifetime I have walked almost ritualistically along the banks of the River Barrow, appreciating it’s ever changing yet familiar landscape. Each season brings fluctuations of colour, timbre and atmosphere. Different times of day and changes in the sky bring new appreciations.

Since 2010 I have been documenting these changes in atmosphere. Through these artworks I seek to observe the characteristics of light and it’s magical capabilities to project the surrounding landscape (inverted) onto the river Barrow evoking an otherworld. Working with photographic techniques I investigate this otherworldly projection and it’s changes over time. This is a work in progress.
