Deirdre Southey is a practicing artist based in Wexford, Ireland. Presently her work focuses on the interplay between art and science, the visible and invisible, conscious and unconscious. Through a multidisciplinary practice including installation, sound, video and print her work brings into question anthropical relations with Earth. She has exhibited her artwork throughout Ireland and has been involved in various curatorial projects.

This exhibition celebrates the dynamics of abstraction not just by demonstrating a linear timescale of the collection but by dividing it into three thematic components of abstraction: Landscape, Anatomies and Pure Abstraction.

Beyond The Frontier was a contemporary video art exhibition displayed in shop windows around New Ross. Beyond The Frontier sought to bring contemporary video art to individuals residing in rural areas and to target new audiences for video art

Idionumina - Hughes, Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny- (May 2012- May 2013)

Idionumina was a site specific exhibition of contemporary art curated by Deirdre Southey and Maria Tanner. Located in a disused hotel in Graignamangh, this project was experimental in its approach bringing 17 artists from across Ireland to engage with ideas of site specificity and its histories.
